Who Moved My Cheese? Unit Resources and Lesson Plans Grades 9-12 | FREE Instant Download PDF
Teaching Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson? If so, these resources will prove helpful to you and your students.
These lesson plans included here are designed to be used with a 12-minute YouTube video that summarizes Spencer Johnson’s book, but you can also use them after reading Johnson’s full text in class.
I’m a reading support/intervention teacher, and I had several students who read the book with their ELA teachers but walked away confused, so I created these supplementary resources to help them fully grasp the content. I showed them the video summary and reviewed key concepts such as allegory, metaphor, and symbolism. Then I had them create character profiles for each of the characters wherein they had to identify what each character represents.
As an extension activity, I created some writing prompts so students could make personal connections with the text.
After creating these resources, I thought they may be of use to other teachers who have already read the full text with their students or to those who want to use the video summary in isolation simply to teach allegory, metaphor, and symbolism.
